This week, a substitute in Callie’s PE class looked at Callie’s prosthetic leg and told her she can’t be runner for the game they were playing.

I’ve been told my whole life things I can’t do.
I can’t play sports because of my diabetes.
I can’t have kids because of my diabetes.
I can’t get married because who would marry someone with a chronic illness?
I can’t travel because it’s too dangerous with my diabetes.
I can’t be a leader and have a career because of my disease.
I can’t write because I need a job with insurance to pay for my medication.
I can’t run a marathon.
I can’t drive because of lows.
Those people didnt know by telling me “You can’t” it would light a spark in me. Tell me I can’t do something and I’ll turn around and do it. And not only will I do it, but I’ll do it well. .

Tell my daughter she can’t do something? You just lit a bonfire in me. She will never know things she “can’t” do–only what she can. There’s no limit, obstacle, or barrier we won’t over come.
And those things they said I couldn’t do?? Look at me now…..
