Double Digits

Ah….ten years old. Double digits.
We’re in a new stage of life.
I’m constantly veering between looking over my shoulder for the sweet chubby cheeked baby who always wanted to be held and then looking forward to the independent strong willed woman she’s going to become.
She wants to do it all by herself but gets upset when I won’t help her.
She’s very concerned with what’s right and wrong, fair and equal, infinite and scarce.
She wants to know how big space is, how long is forever, and what true love looks like.
She wants to help everyone and doesn’t understand why people would say rude things because that can hurt feelings.
She comes home from school and has to have 30 minutes to “chill” otherwise it’s a meltdown during homework.
I see peeks of that baby girl…..she wants to be snuggled between James and I on the couch, she still looks for me when she gets hurt, and she still loves her stuffed unicorn, Uni.
But I also can see the woman she’s going to become. Strong willed (lord help me), stubborn about her goals, loving, fierce, inquisitive, kind, sarcastic as hell, a game changer, and a force to be reckoned with……

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
