Runner Girl

We’ve called out shot and are happy to announce that we are doing our first 5K in December!

We signed up for the Hollis Company’s Rise Run in December!

We really wanted to pick a race that would be special to us and was SO excited when they announced their first run.  Their first run and our first run?

Sold.

They have already reached out and reassured us that it will be accessible for Callie and told us that the entire team can’t wait to cheer our girl on!

I know out training plan will look different than others.

I know people are wondering why we picked one so far out.

We have to make sure that Callie’s endurance can handle it.  Three miles post open heart surgery AND double knee surgeries?  We need to be safe and that means building up slowly.  We will need to work on her gait, flexibility, and strength.

We have to make sure that my diabetes behaves itself.  I have to learn how to maintain a pace that’s feasible for me–not the fastest.  I need to learn just how hard and much I can push it before my blood sugars start to drop.  I need to learn what I can eat before hand to keep my levels stable during the whole three miles.  I also need to train carrying 80+ pounds…..because that’s a reality I need to plan for.  Callie might need a break or a breather but we will cross that finish line.  Either hand in hand or her on my back.  Either way……we finish.

I will make sure to share all of our training on social media so make sure you are following @theprincessandtheprosthetic on Instagram or on FB!

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

    Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
