Ten Things–Quarantine Edition

May 11, 2020 in Lifestyle - No Comments

These posts are some of my favorites–we can do little snapshots of what we’re experiencing, loving, and living through right now.

  1.  We are embracing the slower pace (most days).  We are able to take our time and be more intentional with the foods that we are eating, the time that we spend together as a family, and the things that take priority during our days.food-plate-morning-breakfast
  2. We are loving the time that Callie is getting to “self” study.  She’s picking topics to learn about, to research, and present to us.  She’s learned about a ton of animals, castles, and how to build a bird house.  She’s also very interested in learning about “business” so I’ve tried to find little bite sized pieces of info to teach her.
  3. We are reading a lot.  I am a huge reader and read pretty much I can get my hands on.  We’ve started the Harry Potter series with Callie and we make a point to spend time each day reading.
  4. The simple things–chalk drawings on the side walk, movie nights, game nights and dance parties.  I’m treasuring those things and trying to make special memories during these times.Chalk2
  5. We are pros at Zoom calls now.
  6. We have become “yes” parents.  As long as she’s not endangering her life or at risk of setting the house on fire, we say yes to it.  Baking cookies, ice cream for breakfast, making slime, building giant forts in the living room, wearing pjs all day….SURE.  Absolutely.  Memories over any type of structure at this point.
  7.   We LOVE going on walks now.  It’s fast approaching the time of year where you can cook an egg on the pavement in Texas….we will have to adjust the timing of them soon!Runner2
  8.  I feel like I do dishes about 20 times a day.  SOS.  Send help.
  9.  We truly are evaluating and weighing which options of our old life we will reintroduce when it’s safe.  As much as we’d tried to keep a handle on our schedule there were times where it felt out of control.  This quarantine has shows us that we truly are the “gate keepers” of our lives and our calendar should only reflect things (and people) that are truly important to us.
  10.  Getting our weekly grocery delivery is like Christmas.

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.

Jaime
