I’ll Teach My Baby to Love Your Baby

June 22, 2020 in Lifestyle - No Comments

I will teach my baby to love your baby.

To not judge people for what they look like, the color of their skin, their physical abilities, or what job they have.

To treat people based off how they act, what values they hold dear, and kindness they show.

I will raise her to treat the custodian the same way she treats the CEO.

I will raise her to stand up for what she believes in–even if it’s not popular.

I will teach her to be quick with compassion and slow with judgement.

I will raise her to lead with empathy. To listen and ask questions to connect with people that are different than her.

I will teach her to be proud of who she is and all that she can do.

I will raise her to be proud of the role her Daddy plays in keeping people safe.

I will raise her to be a cheerleader and advocate for others.

I will teach her that right is right even if no one is looking.

I will teach her the importance of personal responsibility.

I will teach her to imagine walking a mile in someone’s shoes before making a judgement.

I will teach her to have a servant’s heart.

I will teach her to take care of the planet in whatever small way she can.

I will teach her not to shout people down when they have an opinion that differs from hers.

I will teach her to stand firm in her values but have a curious mindset.

But more than anything, I will teach her love.

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
