Thanksgiving tends to put gratitude in the spotlight—but what about the other 364 days of the year? Gratitude isn’t just about saying thanks before you dig into mashed potatoes. It’s a powerful daily practice that can calm your nervous system, shift your mood, and help you find joy even in messy, ordinary moments.
So let’s talk about how to bring gratitude off the holiday table and into your everyday life.

Start Small (Literally)
Gratitude doesn’t have to be profound. Start with noticing the little things: the way your coffee tastes, your child’s laugh, or how the light hits your window in the morning. Micro-gratitude shifts your energy faster than you think. Things I’ve been grateful for this past week? Seeing the sunset as I walked Jack, finding a book I’ve been wanting to read at the library, and laughing with my coworkers. These aren’t earth shaking things–but they are impactful.
Journal It Out
You know your girl loves a journaling session. Keep a running list of “3 things I’m grateful for” in your journal or phone notes. Over time, you’ll build a record of joy you can flip through when life feels heavy.

Say It Out Loud
Gratitude grows when it’s shared. Compliment your partner’s effort, thank your child’s teacher, or tell a friend you appreciate them. Speaking gratitude out loud is like doubling its power. I challenge myself to give out 5 “gratitudes” a week–this makes me constantly look for things to be grateful for AND it makes me make sure that I’m acknowledging the small ways people show up for me.
Anchor It to Rituals
Pair gratitude with something you already do: brushing your teeth, making tea, or tucking in at night. For example: “I’m grateful for…” as you take your first sip of coffee or when you take your dog for a walk.

Gratitude as Nervous System Care
When you’re stressed, gratitude acts like a reset button. Taking 30 seconds to focus on what’s good reminds your brain that not everything is on fire.

Final Thoughts
Gratitude isn’t just for Thanksgiving. It’s a daily ritual, a nervous system soother, and a mindset shift. And the best part? It doesn’t cost a dime.
This season, let gratitude be the quiet little superpower you carry with you—whether you’re around the holiday table or just tackling your mountain of laundry on a Tuesday like me.
Sending you love and light,
Jaime
