Our Favorite Boutique Hotel in ATX

One of the things that James and I try to do at least 4 times a year is a mini get away!  It’s so important to us to schedule time together to recharge, reconnect, and relax together.  It’s one of the keys to the success of our relationship!  Our favorite place to go is The Hotel Van Zandt in Austin!

The staff is incredible.  They always find someway to personalize each of our stays and take such good care of us while we are their guests!

We always stay in the same suite each time we go!  It’s a little tradition we like to do and I’m not sure how they pull it off but we’ve never stayed in another room!  It’s always been “our” room each time!  This picture was from our suite the last time we went–just a STUNNING view overlooking the river!

The hotel is stunning–a very ecclectic vibe that just embodies Austin culture.  From being dog friendly to the Willie Nelson artwork and trumpet sculpture in the lobby, the hotel is gorgeous!

They have an amazing coffee shop in the hotel called Cafe 605 that has AMAZING coffee you can grab on your way out to explore Austin or you can sit in the cafe and indulge in some yummy treats!  We also love eating brunch on Sundays at Geraldine’s while listening to the live music!  And drinks by the pool deck are a must in the summer!

We really use the weekend away to relax and reconnect.  Our lives are so crazy busy! Between two full time stressful careers, my writing, Callie’s schedule and medical needs, sometimes there is nothing nicer than to go away with each other and just “be.”  We order room service, binge watch movies, go eat at fun new restaurants, get massages, and recharge our batteries.  We come back home better partners, better parents, and better people by taking those breaks!

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.

Jaime
