Returning to Yourself: A Spring Series on Soft Renewal

Spring doesn’t arrive all at once.

It begins subtly — with a little more light in the morning, a softening in the air, the quiet sense that something inside you wants to loosen its grip. After months of bracing, surviving, holding everything together, spring invites a different posture.

Not urgency.
Not reinvention.
But return.

Returning to Yourself is a seasonal collection about gentle renewal. About nervous system regulation. About identity, motherhood, womanhood, and the slow work of becoming whole again after seasons that required everything you had.

This series was created for women who feel the pull of that return — to themselves, to their bodies, to their truth — but don’t want another checklist disguised as growth. It’s for the women who are tired of pushing and ready to soften without disappearing.

Why Spring Feels Different in the Body

Winter teaches us how to endure.  To hunker down.  To hibernate.
Spring asks us to exhale.

But many of us don’t know how to do that anymore. We carry winter inside us — in our shoulders, our breath, our sleep, our constant readiness. Even when life calms down, our bodies don’t always follow.

This series begins there. With the understanding that healing doesn’t start in the mind — it starts in the body.

A Series Rooted in Softness, Not Self-Improvement

Returning to yourself doesn’t mean becoming someone new.

It means remembering who you were before survival became your default. Before labels replaced identity. Before your nervous system learned to stay hyper alert even in moments of safety.

This is not about fixing what’s broken.
It’s about tending to what’s been neglected.

Across this spring series, we’ll explore:

  • How to gently regulate a nervous system that’s been on edge for too long

  • What it means to reclaim identity after motherhood and caregiving

  • How to build a home and life that supports your energy instead of draining it

  • The quiet grief of losing yourself — and the hope of finding her again

  • A softer approach to growth that honors seasons instead of forcing timelines

Each piece is meant to be read slowly. To be returned to. To meet you where you are.

For the Women Who’ve Been Carrying Too Much

This series is for the mothers whose identities became functional.
For the caregivers who forgot they were allowed to want.
For the women who learned to be strong because they had to — not because they wanted to.

Returning to yourself does not mean abandoning responsibility.
It means refusing to disappear beneath it.

An Invitation, Not a Directive

There is no right way to move through this series.

You don’t need to read it in order.
You don’t need to “do” anything with it.
You don’t need to emerge transformed.  There’s no “before” and “after” picture.

Let these words be a place to land.
A pause.
A mirror.
A reminder that you still exist beneath the roles you carry.

Spring will unfold whether you rush it or not.
You are allowed to unfold with it — slowly. Just like the petals of a flower unfolding in the soft morning sunlight.

Each post is an invitation to soften — not solve.

Can’t wait to share it with you!  The first in the series is out out this Thursday!

Sending you love and light,

Jaime

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
