I am this kind of Mom

I’m the kind of mom who does dance parties in the kitchen.
I’m the kind of mom who lets her beat her own drum….even if that means wearing cat ears to school picture day. The kind of mom who encourages her to be curious and ask a lot of questions.

I’m not a “quiet” mom.  I’m a “I didn’t ask for sass” “leave your attitude at the door” and a “did you not hear me?” mom. I am a mom who loses her temper but is always first to apologize and ask for forgiveness.  I am a mom who admits when I am wrong and promises to try to do better.

I’m a list making mom, a goal setting mom, and a strict mom who expects her to do chores, do her homework, and turn in her best effort. I’m not a super crafty mom but I am a mom who loves to color and will read the same book a thousand times in a row.  I’m not a “play pretend with me” mom but I’m a let’s write, draw, go on a Nature Walk type of Mom.

I’m a fly by the seat of my pants kind of mom.  A let’s figure it out together mom.  I am the type of mom who always sees the sunshine, looks on the bright side, and counts her blessings.

I’m the kind of mom who makes her take a million pictures and plans adventures for her so that she never loses her sense of wonder. I plan gradiose birthday parties and love to celebrate everything.  I love big trips but want to teach her the joy in little every day ordinary adventures.

I’m the kind of mom who is exhausted at the end of the day but still wants 5 more minutes of snuggles with her before bed. I’m not the kind of mom that likes to share her bed but I am the type of mom who sleeps in her bed when she’s sick and who welcomes early morning wake up snuggles.  I’m the kind of mom who always has band aids and gum in her purse.

I’m the kind of mom that will always be supportive of her. Even when she wants to do something less conventional, different from others, and outside the box. Especially during those times. I am a mom who encourages creativity and individuality.  I am the type of mom who teaches kindness, empathy, respect for others, and hold her accountable for her words and actions.

I am not a perfect mom but I am a damn good one.  I love her fiercely and with everything I have.  I’m the kind of mom who will let her fall because I know what a warrior she is and how strongly she will rise.  But I also am the type of mom who will carry her when she tires and the burden is too much for her to handle alone.

I’m the type of mom who gives her words of affirmation and tells her that I love her to the moon and back times infinity.  I am the type of mom who tells her that she is perfectly imperfect. Strong beyond words. Blessed beyond belief. And loved more that anything.

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.

Jaime
