How Did you Get So Strong?

We get this question a lot.

Most people who haven’t walked the same path that we have can’t fathom how we are able to withstand the storms that we have……

How we are able to keep getting up after getting knocked down.  Again and again.

How we are able to handle the stress and the worry.  The grief and the heart ache.

Simply, if you get a cut, a scar forms.

If you get broken, you put your self back together.  Sometimes it takes a while for the bones to heal and the scar to form but you do it.

We have the scars and bruises to show for the long road that we’ve survived.

But, every battle we’ve won.

Every long war we’ve won.

And every time we’ve over come the pain…..we’ve gotten a little bit stronger.

And soon, we realized what would have formerly knocked us down and made us weary…..we are now taking in stride.

Something that would have sidelined us, torn us apart, and set us back ten steps……we now can tackle it, work through it, and over come it.

Because we’ve put in the time on the battlefield.

We’ve gone through pain.

We’ve earned our scars.

They tell a story.

One of hard fought battles won.

Times where our strength of character was forged.

Those times…..they didn’t break us.

They made us stronger.

The strongest hearts have the most scars.

Beautiful markings of hellfire, healing, and hope.

Reminders of how we carefully pieced ourselves back together.

Creating a beautiful and brilliant tapestry out of our scars.

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
