Tiny Dancer

I don’t think I have the right words to describe how I felt last night.

Last night was Callie’s first dance recital with CBSA’s production of The Nutcracker.

I pretty much cried through the whole thing.  Seeing our baby girl on stage was a dream come true.  A dream that I had quietly tucked away in my heart years ago with the quiet understanding that it probably wouldn’t happen.

Until we were welcomed with open arms at CBSA.  Where Callie is celebrated for her unique abilities and talents.  Where she is part of the organization and supported fully.  Where she is able to flourish and bloom on stage. Where she is able to step into the spotlight and SHINE.  Where she has been able to make some new friends and find a new community that loves her.  Where she has to practice and learn a new skill in an adaptive way.  Where they have been willing to invest the time to help her grow as a dancer.  Where she can be graceful AND strong.  Where she is able to showcase that anyone can dance and that anyone SHOULD be able to dance.  Where she is able to do something that she has always wanted to do but never been given the chance to.  Where she can shine her beautiful light on the world.

I never figured myself for a dance mom.  If you had told me six months ago, she would be dancing on a news program and on stage with a major dance company, I probably would have laughed in your face.  But you can bet there is not a mama more proud, elated, and overjoyed to see their ballerina take the stage than me.

Because when you put out positive things out into the world….they come back to you.

When you have courage and kindness…good things happen.

When you are inherently grateful for your perfectly imperfect life…..good things happen.

When you have the best friends and family…..good things happen.

When you are willing to work hard and never give up…..good things happen.

When you cheer for others and have an abundance mindset…..good things happen.

If you bring your own sunshine…..good things happen.

Let’s go baby girl….the world has been waiting for someone just like YOU.

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
