Awakening Your Inner Knowing in a World That Tells You to Doubt Yourself

August 5, 2025 in Lifestyle - No Comments

We live in a noisy world. A world that tells us to trust the experts, follow the trends on TikTok, and second-guess our gut feelings. From an early age, many of us are taught to look outward to “experts” for answers — not inward.

But here’s the truth: you already know.
You’ve always known.

Inside every woman is a deep well of inner knowing — an intuitive wisdom that whispers truth even when the world shouts over it. And the journey of reclaiming that knowing? That’s a sacred act of self-trust.

Read on to learn how to reconnect with your intuition and awaken your inner knowing in a world that encourages self-doubt:

Why We Learn to Doubt Ourselves

You’re not alone if you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive,” “too emotional,” or “reading into things.” Society often dismisses feminine intuition in favor of logic, structure, and proof.

Here’s how that doubt creeps in:

  • You were taught to prioritize people-pleasing over your own instincts.  This can show up as “good girl” syndrome where you show up being the good girl and not causing any trouble for anyone else by voicing your own opinions, sharing your ideas, or disagreeing with someone.

  • You’ve been gaslit — by culture, systems, or even loved ones.  You’ve been told by society, your family, or even your partner that you’re ideas/feelings are not valid.

  • You’ve internalized the belief that someone else always knows better.  I can definitely say this showed up a lot for me when I was younger.  I constantly was looking for the “adult” in the room….only to figure out, it was me.  I didn’t have to rely on someone older than me to make a decision for me–I was perfectly capable of making my own decisions (and giving myself permission to make mistakes along the way).

But let’s get one thing straight: doubt isn’t your default — it’s learned. And what’s learned can be unlearned.

What Is Inner Knowing, Really?

It’s that gentle nudge when something feels off.
The calm certainty that defies logic.
The way your body reacts before your mind catches up.

Your inner knowing doesn’t scream. It’s not always loud or dramatic. It’s subtle, sacred, and wise. It’s always been with you — you just need to listen again.

5 Ways to Reawaken Your Inner Knowing

1. Create Quiet

You can’t hear your intuition over the noise. Create intentional moments of silence — morning stillness, screen-free evenings, walks in nature (without a podcast blaring in your ears).
Even five minutes can help you hear yourself again.

2. Feel into Your Body

Your body always tells the truth.
Does this decision feel tight or open?
Does this person make you feel safe or tense?
Your inner knowing lives in your nervous system and your senses.

3. Reflect, Don’t React

When you feel confused, take a pause. Let your thoughts settle. Ask yourself:
“What do I know to be true — before the opinions, fears, or pressure?”

That’s where your knowing lives.

4. Journal Your Truth

Let your pen become a compass. Ask questions like:

  • What does my intuition want me to know today?

  • Where in my life have I ignored my gut?

  • What would I do if I fully trusted myself?

Writing often reveals the truth hiding beneath the noise.

5. Surround Yourself with Trusting Voices

Spend time with people who value inner wisdom — not dismiss it. Read books, listen to podcasts, and follow voices that remind you that you’re not crazy — you’re intuitive.

Why Reclaiming Your Inner Knowing Is So Important

When you trust yourself:

  • You make decisions rooted in truth and authenticity, not fear.

  • You set boundaries with confidence.

  • You become a model for others — especially your children — to trust themselves too.

In a world that profits off your self-doubt, self-trust is revolutionary.

Final Thoughts: You Don’t Need Permission

You don’t need validation to trust yourself.
You don’t need a sign to believe in your gut.
You just need to remember: your inner knowing is real.
It’s wise.
And it’s yours.

So soften. Listen. Trust again.
The answers you’ve been seeking are already within you.

Sending you love and light,

Jaime

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
