What Changes Will We Keep?

I’ve been trying to articulate how this situation feels right now.
The closest I can come to explaining how I feel is…..
I feel like I did after 9/11.
Scared, anxious, worried, and nervous. Like I might burst into tears at any minute.
But also, so fiercely freaking proud of how this country is handling it.
Those of us social distancing.
Protecting our elderly and immune compromised populations.
Celebrating our unsung heroes–medical staff, pharmacy workers, grocery store staff, first responders, delivery drivers, and teachers.
Companies stepping up to help the community and protect their employees.
People buying gift cards to family owned restaurants.
Championing and rallying behind small businesses.

I keep thinking about how we are going to change after this.
Because we will…..
We won’t be able not to.

What changes will we keep?
Will we cherish those times we can get together to celebrate a little more?
Will we thank our first responders more?
Our nurses and doctors?
Will you be grateful to go to work? To school? To drop your kids off at school to their amazing teachers?
Will you check on your grandma more?
Your friend going through cancer treatments?
Will you be grateful for a fully stocked grocery store?

Will you be grateful to go to the gym and move your body?

Will you tell your UPS driver thank you?
Will you keep being a cheerleader for small businesses?
Will you slow down more and spend more time on the things that are actually important?

Hold tight everyone. I remember how we rose up after 9/11. We will get through this.
Hopefully stronger. Better. Kinder. And more grateful than ever.

And wash your dang hands.

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

For the women blooming in unexpected places…..

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
