Since this blog is a virtual “scrapbook” for Callie, I would be remiss if I didn’t include pictures from our very first “blizzard”! We had unprecedented winter weather in south Texas that resulted in 4-6 inches of snow! It’s so…

Inclusion is our love language. Normally, when I discuss inclusion, the idea is that it’s 100% beneficial to only the person who’s differently abled. That they will be the only one to positively benefit from the adaptive and inclusive measures….

One of the most traumatic experiences of my life took 12 minutes. 12 minutes for them to rush me to the OR and prep me for surgery. 12 minutes for them to numb me, cut me open, and take our…

“I’m so sorry.” That usually is what we hear when we share the complexity of Callie’s medical situation. When she was first born, those were some of the first words we heard from doctors, nurses, specialists, and counselors. “I’m sorry.”…

Were you always an advocate?” This was a question asked of me the other day. I’ve always had a heart for the underdog. Maybe having T1D, I saw a little bit of myself in them. Ever since I was little,…

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind The Wildflower Edit. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.
Jaime
